Faculty Seminar on August 26th

On August 26th, 2021, GEC Academy hosted a virtual faculty seminar on “What is Special about Chinese Students in Explorative Learning?” Faculty from GEC Academy, professors and experts from Oxford AQA, and Universities in the UK and the US joined this hour-long seminar. The seminar provided a platform for scholars from these institutions to exchange ideas that might induce new program designs and teaching improvement for GEC Academy.

On April 27th, we held the 2022 GEC New Faculty Orientation for all GEC teachers, engaging faculty and introducing faculty to the company history, our beliefs and mission, education philosophy as well as expectations about teaching. On December 28th, GEC Academy held an annual faculty meeting for its faculties, professors, and instructors. This meeting concluded this year’s performance and provided a vision for 2023. The meeting agenda is as follows: 1. Faculty Outreach Team sharing; 2. Academic Management Team sharing; 3. University Higher Education Team sharing; 4. Professor Representative sharing; 4. Teaching Fellow sharing; 5. Q&A part; and 6. “Lucky draw”.

The introduced teams include the Leadership Team, the Teaching Team, the Academic Team, the Academic Branding Team, the Product Management Team, the Application Team, and the Finance Team. Their aims and responsibilities have been elaborated on in detail.

2023 Summer Research Program Info Session

On April 27th, GEC Academy held an information session during the April Faculty Meeting for approximately 30 professors who had expressed interest in the upcoming 2023 GEC On-site Summer Research Program. Mr. Sheng Yan, President of GEC Academy, presented important details on program arrangements, available support, and useful tips for the attending professors. In addition to Mr. Yan's presentation, two members of GEC's teaching faculty, Professors David Shimko from New York University and Professor Pavlos Protopapas shared their personal experiences at GEC's on-site camps. Their insights proved to be valuable in providing the attending professors with a clear understanding of what they could expect during their stay in China.

Onsite Seminar on the Impact of ChatGPT on Education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

On August 2nd, GEC held the August Faculty Meeting on the theme of The Impact of ChatGPT on Education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which coincided with the 2023 Summer Research Program and marked the very first time for us to organize such an on-site event since the outbreak of COVID-19. Wendy Wang, Co-founder and Academic Director of GEC Academy, started the roundtable meeting by graciously introducing the keynote professors and welcoming the audience for attending this activity. We would like to thank everyone who joined in the meeting, especially thanks to our beloved professors who were invited to share their thought-provoking opinions on the topic.

Shaping AI-Driven Education: Key Takeaways from GEC Academy’s Onsite Faculty Meeting in Shanghai

On February 20, GEC Academy successfully hosted an engaging onsite faculty meeting in Shanghai, marking a key event in the 2025 iHUB Winter Research Program. Centered on the theme Generative AI and Educational Regulation: From Local Practices to Global Standards, the seminar featured five distinguished professors: Paul Armstrong-Taylor, Professor of International Economics at Johns Hopkins University; Rajesh Bhargave, Associate Professor of Marketing at Imperial College; Sophia Koutsogiannaki, Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at Boston Children’s Hospital; Caroline Terquem, Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford; and Alberto Grünbaum, Professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley.

Highlights from the July GEC Faculty Meetings in Beijing and Shanghai

On July 22nd, GEC Academy successfully hosted two thought-provoking onsite faculty meetings in Beijing and Shanghai simultaneously, as part of our 2025 iHUB Summer Research Program. The sessions centered on the theme “Equipping Graduates for AI-Transformed Careers: Employment Trends and Student Development”. We are very glad to have welcomed fourteen GEC teaching faculty members from leading universities worldwide, representing fields as diverse as computer science, education, communication, chemistry, mathematics, and finance and accounting, to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of employment and graduate education.
